16 Driverz Cup made it to CMP for our second race of the season under wet conditions in P1 & Q1, but it was mostly dry for R1. We had even more new Driverz join in the fun, so welcome Caroline Houseman, Scott Brallier and Bryce Moon, who won the TEN-VEE award of $250 for Driverz incentive to race with us from SCCA Driving School at RRR!
Mitchell Ferguson won on Saturday, Sherman Engler 2nd, Mike Lawrence 3rd and John Lampley picked up the Hard Charger.
In torrid rain, Mike Lawrence won his first Driverz Cup race on Sunday, Smith Jackson Ragsdale was 2nd & Scott Brallier was 3rd in his first time in his car and at CMP. Caroline grabbed the Hard Charger. Several cars spun at the kink, and were thrilling for the people watching, as all continued unscathed. Caroline had 2 as she was pushing hard to improve. No fear there. Hopefully, Caroline’s dad, Joe Houseman, will join us soon. Shout out to David McWhorter for Full Competition License while tent camping in the rain.
This makes our 3rd event with the SCCA and though each race has it’s own minor glitches, mostly my fault, I think this may prove to be a very beneficial relationship. Brad Davis was the Chief Steward and is most gracious in welcoming us and very easy to work with. His succinct meetings are much appreciated.
Thanks again to everyone for helping with the entire weekend!

Despite the cold mornings, Covid and being on Easter weekend, 24 cars were on track overall and 9 Driverz Cup cars made for a wonderful weekend where Mitchell Ferguson ran away from everyone, twice, and on Saturday, started last and put on a show weaving through the pack in a class of his own and won for the second time!
Welcome new Driverz Cameron McMillin and Zack Wojtalik, who seemed to be smiling the whole time, along with our regulars and me in particular.

Thanks to all that came out for what turned out to be 2 beautiful days of Driverz Cup racing at the rebranded & remodeled Michelin Raceway at Road Atlanta this past weekend. We had 4 first time Driverz & 2 as their first race.
We welcome Tripp Isley & Charles Morris as rookies and Will Ragsdale & John Lampley as new to Driverz Cup.
Mitchell & I evaluated a new tire, Toyo R888R, for consideration to run and be competitive with Challenge Cup for next year. They are awesome, but don’t worry about the old tire yet. We are entertaining an idea of having 2 groups within Driverz Cup already in order to spread the differential between the fastest & slowest.
Congrats to Mitchell Ferguson for a new Road Atlanta Driverz Cup track record holder with a 1:49.573 on the T1R tires and in a borrowed car. He was 2 seconds faster than his new record on the R888R tires.
Congrats to Stevan Davis for wins both days and Will Ragsdale for his first podium with a 3rd place on Sunday.
Thanks to the VDCA for hosting us! All weekend I heard from all the Driverz how well they were being treated and with no hassles at all.

Driverz Cup Series Race
After a long tow from the south, Ken Blackburn, Tom Brown & I arrived at beautiful Mid Ohio ready to do battle with the Challenge Cup drivers. 27 cars were in the same group as Driverz Cup ran together with Challenge Cup. It was Ken & Tom’s first time at this iconic track. I especially like turn 9, but enjoy the whole track. Always is great fun racing with this many cars at once. I was never bored!
Due to the wider track & tire we were behind in time, but all had fun anyway.
Big shout out to Ray Carmody for all his help.
